Suffering in relationship? Here’s how to stop.

WOMEN’s GET RELATIONSHIPS RIGHT COACHING TIP: Women often suffer in relationships, putting up with behavior we don’t like, while resenting it. We expect to be appreciated for this suffering.

The point we miss is that putting up with and suffering is YOUR choice. There is no payoff, no appreciation, nothing in return for putting up with.

You don’t have to put up with things that make you suffer in relationships. You can’t change another person or his or her behavior. But you can always change yourself. I suggest you refuse to put up with suffering and change whatever you need to change to make yourself happy.

That is so true! Whenever I volunteer for suffering I want the other person to appreciate it and value me more for doing so. Hmm…funny how it has yet to bring about those results. As I’m typing this, I’m realizing that I need to spend time with myself and ask why I quickly and thoughtlessly volunteer to suffer.
